First of all, thank you so much for Tim Hatcher and Dan Burkharth voice acting, so as Brad Reason for help on technical arrangements, they did a great work.

To find this passage was a joy, rebuild on Second life even more.
(script not shown on the Amadeus Movie)
"Mozart is in a circle of respected composers explaining why he should be able to perform a vulger opera."

It is said that Mozart began having problems with his reputation from this opera that satirized certain customs of the nobility. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart it is pure genius. This story it is only fiction about how Mozart really were.

The original scene happens on Schönbrunn Palace (imperial summer residence in Vienna, Austria.). As far Emperor Leopold I gave his architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach the order to design a new palace. Johann contemporary ideals tryed to top its role model Versailles. So as a producer (me) and since I dint found any Schönbrun Palace in-world, I thought the best approach it were the Versailles Palace.

By Peter Shaffer adapted to Second life by spyvpyaeon.

Salieri struggles with the fact that he himself is rather mediocre, despite his desire to glorify God (though he did not recognize this mediocrity before he met Mozart), while Mozart is a genius while acknowledging no God other than his own desires. In the Peter Shaffer story (inspiration for the Amadeus movie).

Mozart arrives in Vienna with his patron, Count Hieronymus von Colloredo, archbishop of Salzburg. While Mozart Salieri secretly observes, the palace of the archbishop, without being presented to it, and one person perceives as irreverent and lascivious, while recognizing the immense talent of his works. In 1781, when Mozart is presented to the emperor, the young composer Salieri presents a "March of Welcome" he had some work to finish, this same meeting, Mozart shows for the first time his traditional childhood laughter, which is heard the rest of the movie. After hearing the motion only once, Mozart spontaneously "improvise" with the piece, without much effort, and turns the "game" of Salieri in the melody of the aria "Non più andra" from his opera The Marriage of Figaro.Mozart is in a circle of respected composers explaining why he should be able to perform a vulger opera.

Some fine research into Mozart's annoying personality doesn't really make up for the fact that the entire premise of this short of the original movie (that dont show this part) that Salieri loathed Mozart and plotted his demise is probably not true.

What about Mozart's monologue to the Chamberlain, Prefect and Salieri?

Forum session - Machinima Weekly Review and Techniques.

Tagged in: social network
Ok, I am throwing this good news. I am "building" an experiment about sharing techniques to Machinimatographers. Taking the good advantage of the "web on a prim" to make a live "tutorial" and a good sharing tool. This will come on the last week of April (we will announce the day soon), stay tune while I am refining the concept. Wonder to see as many machinematographers needed to create some good sessions for machinima learning tools. Ok, let me see if I have to explain the idea that I am still developing. The principle is to share. What is proposed is a group of Machinimatographer available in a forum to confer and share different techniques and methodologies used to create illusions in the work done in Machinima. How many times have you seen a job with special effects and have no idea of how they were made? Those are issues that we can develop this forum, I need to know in advance how many or whether the idea is well accepted to organize the place and the event itself. The live demonstrations can be given by me or by any machinimator Livestream + using the Web on a prim for a live demonstration of the process to illustrate a particular technique + plus slvoice. We know that many of the basic concepts of production and editing video are applicable to any editing program (some more, some less), but the intention is really to inform interested parts to the potentials of producing and editing. I found this initiative interesting and positive to the world of production Machinima Second Life and others. I personally am not afraid to share what I do and as I do, to wish sincerely to see someone who can make it better or suggest a easy way do to a specific fx's. That would be a real challenge. What do you think about this idea? Would you join? Write me an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or leave a message with your approval or suggestion about this initiative.

Second life location Portucalis - Academia.

All this while I am organizing the Machinima Weekly Review event and the Machinima Techniques, 2 events in one where we plan to "travel into weekly machinima release", some positive and constructive talk, Machinima screening, Machinima techniques, goods and bads, commercial use, LL policy etc. Everything we can cover during 1 hour of event. ( this event will be defined soon ). What I can say from now is that we have at least 2 machinimators (it might be possible to make Draxtor join this, awesome no?) making the reviews followed by 2 academic teachers (University of Aveiro).

Stay tune, event might start this weekend, I will keep you posted, for sure.

MMIF'10 - Short review & preview

Watch life recorded event with Machinimators interviews Okay, okay, Mamachinima International festival was extremely beyond my expectations(well not only mine). Although not present in the previous edition of Mmif'09, this issue did not amazed me by the quality of the exhibited works but the diversity of Machinimas shown. We saw works done in Second life (of course), iClone, Moviestorm, The movie, etc, a unique combination where each producer had also the time for Q & A ( interesting no?). An event with a amazing magnetude, so high, spread among the four SIMS there was something like a 350 avatars (yes a brutal lag: D), in a 7 hours event (?), let me say "Brutal!". Everything went as planned except for the fact that there was an "accident in Amsterdam" I understood that the subway very close to Amsterdam planetart (the real life place for the MMIF'10) had any problem, some people were not able to follow the event as originally planned (I assume that in one part of the event they could enter the MMIF2010 @ PLANETART, Amsterdam and at least see a part of the event). The event made a perfectly capable enforcement of the community (the event of the year) and from my part was very gratifying to see the movement that is already created, see also other stakeholders (Linden Labs and Real Life), in what we call easily the new era of art in Machinima. Well, beyond my opinion expressed here you can see on twitter the whole wave of emphasis and ecstasy of the participants, members and visitors. In fact the energy felt yesterday made a positive wave on the producers and public, making a great feedback over the social network (twitt and FB), and reveals a new breath on the Machinima productions, (outstanding no?). So it's quiet easy to understand that this is the best achievement and in time (well we still have plenty of time until MMIF'11 19 Feb, already announced by MMIF), but this is not the only challenge, 2010 reserves a new way to look at Machinima Art & production and making a market filled with content creation and art.

The Little Fisherman Story

Finally this work is done, after 2 weeks setting the voiceover, takes, etc. Maybe you don't see it, but there is a lot of chroma key on this production. The land (6PI) had the voiceover (disable) so I had to film in a green box, film the background and work on the double layer. If you are asking, why? I didn't wan´t to film on other place since this is the best (that I choose) to making this narrative work. I want to thanks a lot (with no special order) to Slim Warrior (unstoppable with voiceover and sound edition), Scorpinosis Nightfire (for another great voiceover), Editorial Clarity (for all help gave during the production), Pooky Amsterdam (for her well done voiceover).  Also thanks to Jazz62 Masala (2nd fisherman) and Sonya Westland (my real life girlfriend who always supports my projects Open-mouthed smiley ).

About this project

Since I remember from my childhood, when I was 6 years old and used to spend my school holidays at my favourite village in Brazil, Sabará (beautiful place over the mountains). I remember I lady friend of mine, she told me that story just once and I still remember. So fabulous I was when I heard such enchanted tale. As a moment of inspiration I’ve created a Second Life adaptation from the Brazilian Folklore and doing the production right now. Iara it is the source of many many tales. Brazilian Indians used to make most of them. This it will be the first of a new series that I am launching, called “Bad stories doesn’t exits!”, where I am going to show you one of the best folks stories from all cultures.

Some people say that storytelling is like tighten a screw. For me, a tale never loses in the telling. What I know is that every time I tell a tale I add a tail, always come up different. The tale I am about to tell is related to a fisherman. A fisherman called Carlos, who lived near a river at the west side.

About Iara (from the Brazilian folklore)

The Brazilian mermaid called Iara, lives at the bottom of rivers, on the shade of the forest. It is a Legend that talks about Amazon mysteries, one night an Indian dreamed of a beautiful woman with blond hair, blue eyes and very light skin. This fairy was standing the entrance of a huge castle of crystal covered with gold and sapphires embed on a heavenly music. The couple fell in love at first sight and heard a beautiful woman to propose eternal love. One day by boat, the Indians saw formed on the water and a hut, behind the window, appeared the woman of his dreams that you smile. Passionate and was enchanted by the hut, which floated on the water. The father of the Indian can see that the woman’s body had a tail, like that of a fish, and, grabbing her son, jumped into the water, diving, never to return. Some peoples and shifting cultivators swear to have seen the Iara, as it came to be called. in many rivers and streams. The belief in this myth is so great, that the places he lives in the Iara, according to tradition, no one dares to go at a certain hour in the afternoon. On some occasions, it is said, it shows up with his legs to then turn into a mermaid. It is in this way that attracts its victims. To get rid of the seductive power of Iara, advise the Indians, should be eating lots of garlic and rub it all over the body. Many are the legends around Iara, their spells and tricks. It is the myth that most inspired Brazilian poets. José de Alencar, for example, included the novel “The Payback of Ipe” a tale about a water nymph, in which there is a palace of gold and diamond at the bottom of the sea. The best known symbolism of the mermaid is the deadly seduction. Surely it is a tempting ( “The wing of the mermaid is the love of a woman who is ready to resume and,” writes Pierre de Beauvais). But the passion it inspires flammable is dangerous, because it was the dream and the unconscious, and so it is foolish dream, ghost unreal. To preserve the passion ( “love is blind!&rdquoWinking smiley, You must, like Odysseus clings to the harsh reality of the mast. Under the influence of Egypt, in which the soul of the deceased was represented in the form of a bird with a human head, the mermaid has become the symbolic representation of the soul of the deceased who failed in their destiny and become a vampire. - The word Iara Indian origins. "If there are aquatic beings that somehow may be responsible for the secular legends of the mermaid, the lovely woman-fish of the myths of many people, these are unquestionably the manatees, the representatives of the family of Manatees. This is because of vague resemblance between his body and female body in the chest area: as women, manatees have two pectoral breasts. This is the reason why these beings were called Sirenia, which is a mermaid. The legends are reported by sailors who faced the dugong"

Narrative Machinima Challenge (announcement)

spyvspyaeon Posted by: spyvspyaeon in Machinimatography | Comment (0)
Tagged in: social network
Ok, now I'm trying to give the seriousness due to the issue. How few people know I am creating a "channel" itself to highlight the work done in Machinima related cultural themes, stories and legends from countries or cultures. I wanted to address this issue in a different way than I have already spoken on my website(2ndfantasy). The question for me and according to some different opinions that I have been gathering the metaverse, but there is a need to channel these types of jobs for one, perhaps, a Web site devoted entirely to the subject. Some may wonder whether it is even necessary.

Let's face it, the communities created and some websites Machinimas, which is the universe as we know, are not addressed in this direction, being too general and often causing some excellent relief work are lost in the middle of Machinimas by example music. Here it is not discrimination in relation to other types of Machinimas. But due to the complexity and value in terms of narrative content of the work (but who is already familiar with this complexity).
Almost all producers or has its own youtube channel or other videos or host then has its own website. The creation of a website in common to want to streamline and make more accessible to the general public the work done within this topic. Since I started seeing the potential of Machinima productions to an audience much broader than that (say an audience outside of virtual worlds, people who don’t even know what we are talking about).

Warning, this movement towards creation is not intended in any way be "the" channel but a useful and accessible to the public. I hope that meets the expectations of our readers. Other movements that matches this objectives has already announced by Machiniplex (but as a Second Life event), Chantal Harvey and a summary of her work in Machinima (read more).

The Joy of Music will be screened on 31 January 2010 10:30 AM to 12PM (noon) Pacific Time at Pooky Amsterdam's "StudioDome" http://slurl.com/secondlife/Spindrift/66/217/701 . As has been hailed in some reviews "The Joy of Music" has been one of the best work ever created by prominent Chantal (among his other works already published). It wanted to develop this very subject before because this event is very much against what I said in this post and will be, as the previous event with Jorge Campos, an open discussion where each visitor can submit questions directly to Chantal.

The Joy of Music

(I recommend you use a headset because the event is in slvoice). For those who missed the previous event here's a briefing. As announced on the from Machiniplex official website , the first live event started today with a great of join the Machinima community, Jorge Campos talked about his experience, his creativity process and some of machinima techniques he applies on his works. George also talked about doing his Moviestorm quickly, like the example of "Ring of False God" made in 48 hours for the 48 Hour Filmmaking Project .

* Sorry some background sounds, could not hijack the SL sound so had to grab the sound system, while hearing and working at same time. I could not save all the live event, but you can get a good picture what we were talking about, beyond I told hereSmiley

God gave us Wings

Hi, this is my first post on secondnights.com and let me introduce myself. My SL name is Spyvspy aeon, 3 years old resident on Second Life, 1 year on Machinima development (I'm still a amateur and day after day, learning new features). Now on the look about what is happening on the Machinima world in the entire meaning. Covering all that is relevant to develop, maybe a look at another culture and more on the impact that this "new" art (a form of expression) gives the general public. For now let's see an interview made with  Sevent Uriza about her"trailer" and them new work (pre release). Hope you enjoy.

Sevent Uriza a Second Life resident, member of Insilico community, machinimator as well, with Lyric Lundquist featured on NWN on 04/2009 in Mixed Reality Profile with a huge luggage works well executed and Jedda Zenovka : Music , Photographe and Builder Extraodinaire also as far as I know featured as well on NPIRL. These three girls recognized for their individual works have joined forces and launched in last December a trailer (pre-announcement) of work to be released this year 2010, entitled "God gave us Wings." Sevent Uriza gave in to a short interview with 2ndFantasy, only to delight our readers for what is coming.

Q - What motivated you to join to work together?
Sevent Uriza - My motivation is to make a video with two fantastic creative people. The difficult thing about it will be how we will manage it. Lyric is from new york ,Jedda from australia and i'm from switzerland ,the time zone between us will be a bit tricky to work with, but I like the challenge.

Q - What the public can expect from your work? It is a machinima narrative, artistic or otherwise, excuse the question is purely speculative.
Sevent Uriza - This is still open and I like to think that it will show during the work in progress.

Q - There is something behind this work you would like to reveal to the public without compromising the element of surprise?
Sevent Uriza - The three of us will show with this project that no matter where you are from, there is always a possibility to be creative together.

Q - I assume that since you discovered the cyber futuristic city called InSilico, this gave you a new motivation in your productions, at least from what I know of your work.
Sevent Uriza - Yes. I admire Skills Hak. She put so much time and energy into the creation of her SIMs. She built a city like we see it in futuristic movies. I am sure many people would like to be part of InSilico. It is inspiring to make a video for such a fantastic atmosphere.

Q - Is there any message on behalf of the production that want to send to our readers?
Sevent Uriza - I would just like to say: Do whatever you want to do and do it now. Life is short.

Thank Sevent Uriza is a pleasure and then we will be anxiously awaiting the release of this work.

Sevent Uriza - Smile ! Thank you spyvspyaeon. I hope that the three of us will make it.

Direct X 11 The revolution

DirectX11 - Stormbirds

Engineered for speed, the ATI Radeon™ HD 5970 delivers an unrivaled HD gaming experience so you can play the latest, most demanding HD titles like never before. Featuring full support for Microsoft DirectX® 11 and cutting-edge graphics, display and memory technologies, this next-generation powerhouse delivers unprecedented performance straight out of the box. Unlocked, this graphic card has massive headroom so you can take control and push your hardware to its full potential!
In the long-awaited revolution, everything that DX10 promised but failed to comply, Microsoft finally has a "new" range of graphics cards. If you have experienced disappointments and broken promises to the launch of DX10, I totally understand the skepticism about this new release. Well at least that is what AMD and Microsoft tries to make us believe. In fact when the DX10 launch of many players and game publishers were taken to a delusion to expect Microsoft to "problem" called Windows XP has brought such a range of graphics cards. Whoever wanted to enjoy the benefits of DX10 would then install the new operating system (Vista) because the capabilities were beyond the expectations of the "XP"! But after several changes made in Vista, it was expected that DX10 would bring new and better performance, but the DX10 was only a very small development in DX9 (it could be said that DX10 would be a slightly improved DX9 ), but the DX10 with this result proved not to be good enough. For those who have no idea what is Direct X: In fact the DX11 brought what many still do not know well what is, Tesselation, which makes the difference. Techniques discussed for the geometry as Bumb mapping and parallax mapping, proved to be ineffective, causing as many problems as the inability to resolve them in full. In practice this both techniques consuming too many valuable processing resources, such as rendering dede shadows correct, entres other resources spent. Since the DX11 with Tesselation enables without torturing the pixels and textures, very simple, instead of programming the millions of triangles needed to simulate an object moved away from that task to the graphics card itself, which does so automatic, saving processing (GPU - graphics processing unit), this process has shown that it is practical and has been the commitment of the developers of graphics cards, after all we are in the era of 3D. 'To have an idea, a scene with Tesselation runs three times faster than the version mapped. Following these "new" steps, today I went to a shop and did a test on an 8 core with an ATI Radeon ™ HD 5970 - also known as the world's fastest graphics card. I've been watching some performances in "Lord of the Rings Online" has supported DX11 and the result is striking. As a born lover of new technologies and also as a lover of games with good quality / performance charts. I sincerely hope that the DX11 technology will be a revolution in 3D as well as any market that revolves around these developments. ATI Radeon™ HD 5970 -- world's fastest graphics card

Direct X from Wikipedia.
Microsoft DirectX is a collection of application programming interfaces (APIs) for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming and video, on Microsoft platforms. Originally, the names of these APIs all began with Direct, such as Direct3D, DirectDraw, DirectMusic, DirectPlay, DirectSound, and so forth. The name DirectX was coined as shorthand term for all of these APIs (the X standing in for the particular API names) and soon became the name of the collection. When Microsoft later set out to develop a gaming console, the X was used as the basis of the name Xbox to indicate that the console was based on DirectX technology.[1] The X initial has been carried forward in the naming of APIs designed for the Xbox such as XInput and the Cross-platform Audio Creation Tool (XACT), while the DirectX pattern has been continued for Windows APIs such as Direct2D and DirectWrite. Direct3D (the 3D graphics API within DirectX) is widely used in the development of video games for Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Xbox, and Microsoft Xbox 360. Direct3D is also used by other software applications for visualization and graphics tasks such as CAD/CAM engineering. As Direct3D is the most widely publicized component of DirectX, it is common to see the names "DirectX" and "Direct3D" used interchangeably. The DirectX software development kit (SDK) consists of runtime libraries in redistributable binary form, along with accompanying documentation and headers for use in coding. Originally, the runtimes were only installed by games or explicitly by the user. Windows 95 did not launch with DirectX, but DirectX was included with Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2.[2] Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0 both shipped with DirectX, as has every version of Windows released since. The SDK is available as a free download. While the runtimes are proprietary, closed-source software, source code is provided for most of the SDK samples. Direct3D 9Ex, Direct3D 10 and Direct3D 11 are only officially available for Windows Vista and Windows 7 because each of these new versions was built to depend upon the new Windows Display Driver Model that was introduced for Windows Vista. The new Vista/WDDM graphics architecture includes a new video memory manager that supports virtualizing graphics hardware to multiple applications and services such as the Desktop Window Manager.
Tessellations and computer models Wiki
A tessellation of a disk used to solve a finite element problem. These rectangular bricks are connected in a tessellation, which if considered an edge-to-edge tiling, topologically identical to a hexagonal tiling, with each hexagon flattened into a rectangle with the long edges divided into two edges by the neighboring bricks. This basketweave tiling is topologically identical to the Cairo pentagonal tiling, with one side of each rectangle counted as two edges, divided by a vertex on the two neighboring rectangles. In the subject of computer graphics, tessellation techniques are often used to manage datasets of polygons and divide them into suitable structures for rendering. Normally, at least for real-time rendering, the data is tessellated into triangles, which is sometimes referred to as triangulation. Tesselation is now a staple feature of DirectX 11. In computer-aided design the constructed design is represented by a boundary representation topological model, where analytical 3D surfaces and curves, limited to faces and edges constitute a continuous boundary of a 3D body. Arbitrary 3D bodies are often too complicated to analyze directly. So they are approximated (tessellated) with a mesh of small, easy-to-analyze pieces of 3D volume — usually either irregular tetrahedrons, or irregular hexahedrons. The mesh is used for finite element analysis. Mesh of a surface is usually generated per individual faces and edges (approximated to polylines) so that original limit vertices are included into mesh. To ensure approximation of the original surface suits needs of the further processing 3 basic parameters are usually defined for the surface mesh generator: * Maximum allowed distance between planar approximation polygon and the surface (aka "sag"). This parameter ensures that mesh is similar enough to the original analytical surface (or the polyline is similar to the original curve). * Maximum allowed size of the approximation polygon (for triangulations it can be maximum allowed length of triangle sides). This parameter ensures enough detail for further analysis. * Maximum allowed angle between two adjacent approximation polygons (on the same face). This parameter ensures that even very small humps or hollows that can have significant effect to analysis will not disappear in mesh. Algorithm generating mesh is driven by the parameters (example: CATIA V5 tessellation library). Some computer analyses require adaptive mesh. Mesh is being locally enhanced (using stronger parameters) in areas where it is needed during the analysis. Some geodesic domes are designed by tessellating the sphere with triangles that are as close to equilateral triangles as possible.

A whole new type of manufactured pop will find its way to Edinburgh this August. For like Gorillaz and The Archies before him, POL Arida does not exist as flesh and bone, but only on screen as a variety of pixels, animation and imagination.

Born on the vast virtual world that is Second Life, Arida is in real life a Scottish-based solo artist with an insight into building an online audience that has seen him attract attention and acclaim from both sides of the Atlantic, winning several Second Life Song Awards along the way.

He's just one of 19 exciting young indie acts from across the globe whose cutting-edge take on technological advances and big ideas will be showcased at the Indie Music Video Festival.

"Charlie is one of the main artists, along with Nikki his eternal love. Together they compose the first of 3 stories. Charlie is a hard man who survives a cold, dark city, where crime lurks around every corner, full of violence and darkness. The film portrays the moments when Charlie writes his story. This monologue is one of the best work I've done so far. I don't want to take the suspense, I leave you with this video, full of special effects and hard work of rendering video. "
